Pokémon Delta Reign: Release Date, Cards & Set Guide

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Delta Reign: Everything We Know So Far

A storm is coming to the Pokémon TCG.

And sitting right in the middle of it is one Pokémon that probably doesn't need much of an introduction.

Mega Rayquaza is back.

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Delta Reign is the next major expansion in the Mega Evolution Series, bringing new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rares and an entirely new Stadium mechanic to the game.

With the official release approaching and prerelease events beginning during October, here's everything collectors and players need to know about Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Delta Reign.

When Does Pokémon TCG: Delta Reign Release?

Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution—Delta Reign officially releases on 6 November 2026.

Collectors won't necessarily have to wait until November to see the cards, though.

Pokémon has confirmed that Delta Reign prerelease events begin from 24 October 2026 at participating Play! Pokémon Stores.

That means cards from the expansion will begin appearing in collections before the full worldwide launch.

How Many Cards Are in Delta Reign?

Pokémon has confirmed that Delta Reign contains more than 135 cards.

Among those are:

  • 4 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
  • 6 Pokémon ex
  • 14 Illustration Rare Pokémon
  • 17 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards
  • 6 Special Illustration Rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
  • 6 Stadium cards that create 3 Legendary Stadiums

So there's going to be considerably more to hunt than simply pulling Mega Rayquaza ex.

Although let's be realistic.

We're all going to want to see the Rayquaza.

Mega Rayquaza ex Returns

The headline Pokémon for Delta Reign is Mega Rayquaza ex.

Rayquaza has been responsible for some memorable Pokémon cards over the years, and its return as a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex gives collectors another major Rayquaza release to chase.

But Mega Rayquaza isn't arriving alone.

Other confirmed Mega Evolution Pokémon ex include:

  • Mega Golurk ex
  • Mega Malamar ex
  • Mega Golisopod ex

That gives Delta Reign four confirmed Mega Evolution Pokémon ex in total.

What Are Legendary Stadiums?

Delta Reign is also introducing something new to the Pokémon TCG: Legendary Stadiums.

Instead of being represented by a single Stadium card, a Legendary Stadium is created using two Stadium cards played together.

Place the two cards next to each other and their artwork connects to create one larger scene.

Even better, Pokémon has confirmed that when a booster pack contains a Legendary Stadium, both halves required to create it are included together.

That's good news.

Because spending six months trying to find the left-hand side of a stadium would be enough to finish us off.

There are six Stadium cards in Delta Reign, forming three complete Legendary Stadiums.

Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares

For collectors who care more about artwork than competitive decks, Delta Reign has plenty to look out for.

The expansion contains 14 Illustration Rare Pokémon, alongside 6 Special Illustration Rare Pokémon and Supporter cards.

Illustration Rares have become a major part of modern Pokémon collecting, with artwork that extends across the card and often shows Pokémon in environments and situations you wouldn't normally see on a standard card.

We've already started seeing some of the artwork coming from Delta Reign, including an Illustration Rare Growlithe.

And with plenty of cards still to discover, the eventual chase-card list could look very different by release day.

Delta Reign Prerelease: Build & Battle Boxes

If you don't fancy waiting until 6 November, prerelease events begin from 24 October 2026.

Players attending participating events can get their hands on a Delta Reign Build & Battle Box.

Each box contains:

  • A 40-card ready-to-play deck
  • 4 Delta Reign booster packs
  • One of 4 unique foil promo cards

The four confirmed prerelease promos are:

  • Masquerain
  • Magmortar
  • Enamorus
  • Kommo-o

Prerelease matches also use a slightly different format, with players building 40-card decks and using four Prize cards rather than the usual six.

What Delta Reign Products Will Be Available?

Delta Reign cards will be available across the usual range of Pokémon TCG products, including booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and other collection products.

For collectors, that means there will be several different ways to approach the expansion.

Some will go straight for Booster Boxes for a larger opening.

Others will choose Elite Trainer Boxes, individual booster packs or simply wait for the cards they want to appear as singles.

There isn't a correct way to collect a new Pokémon set.

Unless your strategy is buying one booster pack and confidently announcing you're definitely pulling the biggest card in the set.

That's not a strategy.

That's optimism.

Should You Open Delta Reign or Buy Singles?

Ah yes.

The eternal Pokémon question.

If you enjoy opening packs and discovering cards as you go, Delta Reign booster products are the obvious route.

But if you're chasing one particular Illustration Rare, Special Illustration Rare or Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, buying the individual card can sometimes make considerably more sense than repeatedly opening packs hoping to find it.

You can browse our Pokémon Singles as new cards are added to Clifford TCG.

Or completely ignore that sensible advice, open another booster pack and whisper:

“It's definitely in this one.”

We understand.

Is Delta Reign Worth Watching?

There are several reasons Delta Reign is already an interesting expansion for Pokémon collectors.

Mega Rayquaza ex gives the set a major headline Pokémon, while the other Mega Evolution Pokémon ex provide more variety.

The new Legendary Stadium mechanic gives both players and collectors something genuinely different, and the large number of Illustration Rare and higher-rarity cards should provide plenty of artwork to hunt.

But we're still before release.

More cards will be revealed as 6 November approaches, so it's far too early to decide which cards will become the most desirable or valuable in the set.

And that's half the fun.
